Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, head of the Awami Muslim League, claims that behind-the-scenes negotiations can result in a reconciliation by October 15; otherwise, there will be judo-karate on the streets.

On Twitter, Sheik Rashid said Imran Khan had split up with a beautiful swinging delivery on Friday. Now, the PPP and Sheikh Shehbaz must handle the matter of [army chief] selection, he added.

According to the former interior minister, the former interior minister stated that Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari did not even opt to fly in Shehbaz’s aircraft to Samarkand.

He predicted that ‘judo-karate’ would be performed on the streets if the government failed to reach a peace accord by October 15.

According to Sheikh Rashid, a close ally of Imran Khan’s party, the MQM-P’s internal politics put them in danger. “Time does not wait if decisions are not made on time.”

Imran’s U-turn came days after he made a dramatic change of heart on Monday, saying that the army chief selection procedure should be delayed until after the next general election.

The proposal effectively meant granting General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the incumbent chief of army staff, another, albeit brief, term.

The new army chief, he argued, should be someone who had the moral ground to make such an important decision, and neither Asif Ali Zardari nor Nawaz Sharif met that requirement.

Imran Khan said once more that he was ready to negotiate with the current government if it wanted new elections. “A moment in history demands extraordinary decisions.”

He said that he was interested in the improvement of Pakistan because his life and death were there. He was always willing to speak with Pakistanis if they had questions about free and fair elections.

General Qamar’s six-year term expires in late November, and the army chief has already denied plans to seek an extension. Imran’s latest statement has yet to be acknowledged by the military’s media wing.

The Supreme Court gave the parliament six months to amend the army act to accommodate expansion. The current ruling parties support this amendment, which was unanimously approved.

A statement by the PTI chief recently alleged that the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz are trying to protect their poor reputations by pushing for the appointment of an army chief of their choice. This prompted a sharp response from the military.
