In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, mental well-being has become a matter of utmost concern. The challenges of modern life, coupled with societal pressures and personal struggles, often take a toll on people’s mental health. Fortunately, organizations like Parindey and Guftugu have recognized the significance of mental well-being and are devoted to providing support and care for those in need.

The Guftugu program is a comprehensive five-month initiative designed around mental health and well-being in academia to empower young people and tackle the various social, economic, and psychological factors that impact their mental well-being. Currently operating in SMIU, NED University, and Mehrghar-Lyari, Guftugu’s social internship program has engaged 128 students, who are being trained to become advocates and organizers for the mental health and well-being of their peers. The founder of the organization, Sonal Dhanani, believes that Mental health well-being clubs act as early intervention mechanisms, identifying and addressing potential signs of distress and radicalization.

By providing a safe space for students to express their concerns and seek support, MHWCs enable timely interventions, preventing individuals from being further isolated and reducing the risk of radicalization. This proactive approach can mitigate the potential harm caused by extremist ideologies and help individuals navigate their emotional and psychological challenges effectively.

Lyari wellness club is one of the ones formed under the banner of Guftugu and Parindey aims to create safe spaces in academia and communities to foster a society where mental health is given the importance it deserves and where individuals feel empowered to prioritize their mental well-being. They firmly believe that mental health is as crucial as physical health and that taking care of one’s mind is the key to leading a fulfilling life.

Lyari Wellness Club conducts awareness campaigns and workshops to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. They believe knowledge is the first step towards eradicating misconceptions and encouraging individuals to seek help without hesitation.

They provide confidential and non-judgmental support to individuals dealing with mental health challenges, offering them a safe space to express their thoughts and feelings. It facilitates support groups where individuals can connect with others facing similar struggles. These groups act as valuable resources for sharing experiences, offering empathy, and learning coping mechanisms from one another.

To broaden its impact, Lyari wellness club actively collaborates with other mental health institutions, universities and NGOs.They believe that collective efforts are essential to address the magnitude of mental health challenges in society effectively to nurture minds and build healthier and happier communities.
