On Saturday, Prime Minister Sharif met with Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar to discuss Pakistan’s economic problems and other issues.

According to local media, an insider said that Ishaq Dar told the prime minister about his plan to return to Pakistan during this meeting. Shehbaz Sharif also informed Nawaz Sharif about his meetings with world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, the insider said.

The meeting focused on Dar’s homecoming and the question of whether he should take the Senate oath again. They also talked about the economy, inflation, and how to make dollar purchases more affordable.

Dar, who resides in London and works alongside Nawaz as an exile, explained to the participants his plan to return to Pakistan and his obligation before the judiciary. He said after his appearance, he would take the oath as a senator.

Upon Dar’s return to Pakistan, the current team of the finance ministry will give him a briefing on the current economic conditions, government sources said.

Once sworn in, Dar will become the finance minister.

The participants hoped that the former finance minister would win in both courts.

Dar said in an interview Wednesday that he would be willing to return to the country and be subject to trial.

The former minister’s statement came hours after he withdrew his petition from the Supreme Court that had sought suspension of the accountability court’s order decision to declare him an absconder.

In his petition, Dar had stated that he would like to visit Pakistan within 15 days.

In light of the above, the honourable Accountability Court should suspend its arrest warrant and the petitioner should be given a fair trial in this case, Dar said.
