US Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The meeting highlighted the dangers of global warming and the destruction caused by global warming-induced floods in Pakistan.
They agreed to “work together to fight the climate crisis and prevent future accidents”.
Despite having a minimal carbon footprint, the premier who is currently in New York to attend the UNGA session met several world leaders and raised the issue of the harmful impact of climate change in Pakistan.
He said in a tweet on Wednesday that he informed world leaders at the UN General Assembly of the flood disaster and of the need for a collective action to address climate change.

He said that Pakistan is interested in establishing economic and trade relations with the global community.
In an interaction with a private television channel, Prime Minister Shehbaz requested the international community to channelize their sympathy for the victims of the Pakistan floods into action for the reclamation and rebuilding of the damaged areas.

The prime minister’s address to the Pakolat assembly on September 23 will outline the nature of the flood crisis in Pakistan.
He also chaired a virtual meeting with the federal cabinet to review and discuss Pakistan’s relief and rehabilitation efforts and ordered immediate supplies of baby food for flood victims.
