It was a pity and embarrassment when UN Secretary-General Trey Antonio Guterres presented figures on hunger and poverty at a recent UN meeting. The General Secretary said in his speech that there is no equitable distribution of food in the world due to which a large population of the world is facing malnutrition.
He added that 3 billion people worldwide suffer from malnutrition, while 462 million people are underweight. According to the data provided, 2 billion people worldwide are overweight and obese. When one-third of the total food is wasted or thrown away.
If we look at these figures, we can estimate that the world has enough food, but the food that is wasted is about one-third of the food. That is, the total population of the world is about 8 billion. If you look at this calculation, the food of two and a half billion people is wasted every day. The loss of this food is not only a financial loss but also the work of millions of human beings behind the food for many months then human food is made.
If we look away from the world and just look at ourselves, we will see a lot of scenes of food wastage. For example, a wedding is an event that is celebrated with much fanfare in Pakistan in which there is a variety of food. Hundreds, thousands of weddings take place every day across the country, in which food is common, food is taken out of the plates as a result of excessive lust and then left on the stomach which is thrown in the garbage. Scenes of domestic functions, restaurants, shrines, gatherings where the leftover food is thrown in the garbage.
How can we cope with this situation and prevent food wastage? Here are some steps you can take to Prevent food wastage.
* If there is food left in the restaurant, pack it and give it to someone in need on the way, but the leftover food should be edible.
* If there is too much food left at the wedding and it cannot be kept, then there are many charities where you can deliver food.
* In some houses it is not customary to eat stale food due to which the food is thrown away the next day. But if the food is packed on the same day or frozen and given to someone in need the next day, the food will be saved from being wasted.
* Similarly, social organizations should create a network that collects leftover food from homes, hotels, or wedding halls on a phone call and then delivers it to the relevant needy institutions.
* Most of the food is wasted in marriages as a result of lust which is left on the plates. But if the table-to-table service continues like in the Corona era, the urge to take out more food at once will be reduced and food will not be wasted on the plates.
* Restaurant managers should not throw leftover food in the trash, but pack it and distribute it or arrange to deliver it to the office of the social organization or social organizations should pick up the leftover food from these restaurants and distribute it themselves.
These are just some of the goal-setting shareware that you can use. If you have the resources and the food is priceless, it does not mean that you waste food because the food that is wasted is also a blessing and you do not waste the blessing in this way.
