The need for regional connectivity

Regional connectivity provides bases to global peace, economic prosperity, political stability and social harmony amongst various entities or nations. In the twenty-first century, human civilization is stuck with many great challenges such as lack of peace, social harmony, political stabilities, economic insecurities, ethnic crisis, and sectarian conflicts means you name it. These hurdles have several roots in our societies both at the individual and national levels. One amongst them is the lack of regional connectivity amongst different entities of various communities and states. First, we should know what regional connectivity is, why it is lacking in our region? Then various factors that can promote regional connectivity? In the end, its importance should be shown to every state and individual that how it can improve the standard of living.

Regional Connectivity means that “to unite different entities of the region which can be within or outside the border of a state”. The formulation of each entity lies in its values that are different from the other entities. These all beings are considered to be sovereign and equally important at each level. The prime objective of regional connectivity is to accept the importance and sovereignty of each individual community. It is the responsibility of every state to ensure the political, social, economic, and intellectual sovereignty of these units. So, regional connectivity is the combining of sovereign and equally important units within and outside the border of a state.

It was the “Treaty of Westphalia” which ensure the recognition and acceptance of political identities and boundaries. Europe has realized the importance of this treaty, but we are yet to sense it. The lacking of acceptance of political boundaries created the lacking of regional connectivity. Fruits of regional integration can be achieved through the recognition of political boundaries and sovereignty of each entity both within and outside the country. In addition to that, cultural imperialism, socio-politico and economic crisis, and identity crisis all have contributed to the lacking of regional connectivity.

The dire need for regional connectivity is possible by multiple means and the struggle of every individual entity. The first and most important source of connectivity is culture. It is obvious that every community has its own customs, values, and traditions and shares some similarities with others too. Therefore, culture can be a source of regional connectivity. Next to it, can be religion is the most reliable and influential factor of regional connectivity. Religion can combine people and states within and outside the country. Thus, religion can be one of the sources of regional connectivity. Moreover, the economic interest of these objects can unite nations and communities. Several other things can help in the promotion of regional connectivity if the polarity and diversity of entities took in the question of political sovereignty and identity.

Regional connectivity is highly important for every state and the communities within states. These differences should be accepted because no one can eradicate them at all. The prosperity of economic development, political stability, peaceful co-existence, and sharing of ideas are possible through regional connectivity.

In conclusion, regional connectivity is needed because it ensures the prosperity of the region in several aspects of life. It also minimizes the hurdles and misunderstandings between states and nations. The given factors can help in the promotion of regional connectivity and proving its importance in many aspects of life.
