The Cover Up (Short Story)

Today my cosmetic store was fully packed with customers. As soon as I opened the shop, customers started pouring in. My helper girl and I were very excited and busy. Lipsticks, mascaras, and foundations were incredibly in demand today. Boxes of the foundation were almost sold out. When the rush subsided, I sat down to drink some water after remaining thirsty for two hours.
At that moment, a veiled customer entered the shop and asked for “Some good foundation” in a soft voice.
“I will show you the foundation of a good company in a lighter shade,” I replied, noticing her fair complexion.
“No, give me the concealer first to hide the marks,” She said in a slightly sharper tone and uncovered her face.

Just one look at her face stunned me. I silently turned towards the rack, took out the concealer, handed it to her and said, “it will hide all the bruises.”
