The Federal Government is prepared to deal with Imran Khan and his supporters when they converge on Islamabad, says Rana Sanaullah, the Interior Minister. It’s also considering using drone technology against them, he says. Imran Khan, he says, is a “psychotic” who is “preparing”. The PTI chairman has announced that his Haqiqi Azadi movement will be held in Islamabad on Imran Khan’s call and has warned that the Interior Minister will not be able to find a place to hide when his supporters assemble, and he’s “psychotic”.

Sanaullah warned the PTI chief against coming to Islamabad or facing the ‘consequences.’ ‘When Khan Sahib expresses his willingness [to come to Islamabad for the anti-government march] we will take afresh whatever steps are required,’ he said. ‘Modern methods will be used to fire tear gas shells and rubber bullets,’ he added. The interior minister warned that the use of drone technology was also being considered against the PTI marchers, and that action would be taken against the provinces if they did not send their police to Islamabad if they supported the long march.

The interior minister said he was prepared to use the federal government’s power to crack down on terrorism in response to a question about whether he was planning to use it. He also said he would recommend that the cabinet and prime minister use it if necessary. After attending a drug trafficking seminar, Sana accused Imran Khan of dividing the nation and misleading the people. “Strong action” would be taken against PTI participants who attempt to come to D-Chowk, the minister warned, adding that any attempt to arrive there could lead to “strong action.” He said Imran’s behaviour was inappropriate, and that no one should attempt to negotiate with him.
